Volunteers served and interacted during a free breakfast six times at Salem UCC, Columbia. Warm clothing items donated from our Tree of Warmth and rummage sales were handed out. The ministry will continue in 2015.
On April 1st 2014, volunteers served a free dinner at First Reformed UCC, Lancaster. The dinner required donating, preparing and serving the food and interacting with our guests. The tableware was also donated. Hoping to bring smiles to our guests, a gummy worm was placed in the “apple” sauce as an April Fools joke.
Our congregation had served this dinner up to twice a year in the past. Our goal is to nourish physical and spiritual needs with these hands on opportunities.
